Benefits of Using The MyChild Infant Security System
McRoberts (formerly called Prosec) offers the patented umbilical tag. There have been no documented events of an abductor trying to remove one of these tags, or instances of infectious control issues. It has also been proven to prevent abductions – as in the documented case at a hospital in Texas.

We offer three patient tagging options, a tag for equipment, plus a staff tag with panic button. Over 600 installed sites.

Our tags are small and lightweight. Each type can protect, track and locate babies, children, adults, staff and equipment – with one infrastructure.

No proprietary bands are needed, which saves money on application costs.
Tags are live at all times so you will not lose them in the trash or laundry.
No special device is needed to turn them off and on.
McRoberts offers extended warranty packages with a variety of options.
Clinical education is provided by a registered nurse who has used the system on a daily basis. Education materials and clinical support is provided for the life of the system.

Installations are done by factory employees, not independent contractors.
We offer 24/7 live technical phone support by factory employees.
Systems are tailored for your specific requirements. We can offer a simple annunciator panel or a fully computerized tracking system.

If the computers go down, the alarms at the doors will still function.
Networked computers can be utilized in other buildings, such as security.
The system performs a self check, so if there is a component failure, you will get a notification on the computer.

McRoberts guarantees that nothing but our own tags will cause an alarm.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q:  What type of patient tagging options are provided?

A:  The MyChild System can support three types of patient tags: the patented umbilical tag, the skin sensing tag and the non-sensing ankle/wrist tag.  Using the same infrastructure, you can utilize the asset tag for equipment and the staff tag with panic button.

Q;  Has an abductor tried to remove the umbilical tag?

A:  There has never been a documented case of an abductor trying to remove the umbilical tag.  They do not want to harm the baby.  It has actually deterred an abductor from taking a baby from a hospital in Texas.

Q:  Do I need a special band to operate the tags?

A:  Our tags are live at all times, so no special bands are needed to activate them, and you do not need a special device to turn them on.  They do not “go to sleep” so you won’t lose them in the trash or laundry.

Q:  Can your tags track and locate babies and equipment?

A:  Depending on the system configuration, all tags have tracking capability.

Q;  Does McRoberts have their own technicians or do the contract out for installations?

A:  We may work with a hospital-preferred contractor, but all installations are supervised  and certified by one of our factory trained employees.

Q:  Do you have 24 hour technical support?

A:  McRoberts has a 24/7 call center that is manned by a live person.  If the call is after hours, the help desk  will reach the technician on call for any service support.

Q:  Do you provide clinical education?

A:  All our system  quotes provide clinical education by an RN who has used this system at her own hospital.  Complete documentation, competency tests, reference guides, training videos and other support items will be provided with the inservice.

Q:  What happens if the MyChild computer goes down?

A:  If the computers go down, you will have audible alarms at the doors. When the computers are back on line, stored data will be dumped into the history log.

Q:  Will anything else cause the system to alarm?

A:  Nothing but our tags will cause the system to alarm.  We use triple digital encoding to ensure the signal is one of our tags and not another device.
